Benefits of playing tennis

Tennis is great exercise the entire body. Your legs, shoulders, arms, hands, upper and lower back all get a good workout, as well as strengthening your core muscles. Playing tennis regularly is an rigorous strength training routine for your whole body.

Depending upon your weight, a moderate intensity singles game or lesson will burn between 400 and 600 calories per hour. It is a fun way to get rid of those extra pounds you do not need!

Recent studies have also shown tennis to be the best sport for increasing longevity of life, giving the average regular player 9 extra years! The Danish study hypothesised that this was due to the social nature of the sport, together with explosive movements required to play the game. Also, people who played tennis tended to eat more healthily and generally took better care of themselves.

Whatever your age, tennis is a fun way to get in your best ever shape.

Play on!
